And here, I always wondered if anyone came to visit..now I know.

To my "real" friends..those of you who USED to listen to my podcast and read my blogs,
H- E- L- L -O! There of course, is no excuse to my lengthy time away. Unless you want to count the fact that I am an emotional woman who has spent a great deal of time of late, dealing with family issues and an "on again" "off again" lay off. Let me explain. I am working every-other-week. The toll this has taken on my day to day schedule is staggering. First off, I have found that I now love to sleep in. Might as well. I have the time. 2ndly, I have found that dealing with "change" doesn't kill anyone. That is, unless they try and deal with their problems on their own. I plan to tell you MORE about that later this week...when I PODCAST...whoooo hooo.

What am I doing now? I am "scrunched down" behind the large monitor at my desk. It is OK. I am at lunch. I just don't happen to like the large fishbowl/picture window plastered to the wall in my office. I hear tell, no one can see me. That is the way I like it, ha And as we have an hour of lunch a day with no where to go, this will have to do. I hope you get this blog. Give me a shout out if you do. I want to see if any of my "faithful" friends are still there. Until later, I remain, YOUR FRIEND lanadee

So THIS is how it is to "HAVE A LIFE"

SURPRISE! Well I HOPE hearing from me is a surprise. I know, I know, I just get through telling you that I am going to try and be more faithful in blogging and podcasting, then I disappear for months.

Well, first, I ran out of things to say. Can you imagine? But it is true. I felt that I had nothing whatsoever to say, that I hadn't said already. Secondly, I decided to attempt to "LIVE" my life, instead of talking about it.

I have really had a great time. I have gone places and done things. Don't ask me what it was that prompted the change. But for the first time I gave myself permission. I put away all the excuses I commonly use and began to say YES to those opportunities to "do something" that came my way. And I have to admit I have had fun. Normally I just stayed home. There is always more to do than I have time to do it in. And, if I have to admit it, my dreaming, thinking and procrastinating has always stood in the way of my living life.

So what have I been doing? Hmmm, that IS a good question. First of all, I have been having fun. I have talked with friends. I have read books and magazines that have been sitting on my table, gathering dust. I have gone shopping! Got all my Christmas shopping done (nearly) in just one day. And I only visited three stores.

I have also been waiting on God. If you don't know what that it, it is when you ask God for direction, and you "wait around" until you feel He has answered, either through the scripture you read, or through a door of opportunity that either OPENS or CLOSES. As you know, I am a dreamer. I have more things I would "like to do" than I have sense. So I have asked the Lord to show me what He wants me to do.

I have had one such dream all my life. I love to sing and I love to share. In years past, I had been asked to sing and speak at banquets, womans functions and other such places. But those opportunites have all but dried up.

Out of the blue I received one such opportunity. A dear friend and mentor of mine called recently. His name is Vic Eliason. Vic is the head of a ministry in Milwaukee Wi. called VCY http://www.vcyamerica.org When I was just out of high school, I sang in a youth choir through this ministry. I also managed the Christian bookstore for a while. Years ago, VCY consisted of a radio station, and a bookstore. The youth choir would sing at rallys and travel in the summer. It was during this time that I feel I was "grounded" in my Christian faith.
Now, VCY has grown considerably. To quote their website: "The VCY America Network is a satellite distributed full-service program schedule consisting of Bible teaching programs, live call-in programs on issues of concern to the Christian community, news and commentary, programs reaching children with the Gospel, and conservative, uplifting Christian music. Programs are selected for their ministry value and their biblical content, rather than financial considerations. There are currently twelve VCY-owned stations across the midwest, plus others that take our network programming for a number of hours each day, some of them full-time." And so Vic called me.

Vic and I discussed old times. He was surprised to know that I now have four grandchildren. And then Vic made my day, no my week, ok my YEAR! Vic asked me if I would be interested in recording at the VCY studio sometime after the holidays. We talked briefly about the old beloved hymns of the faith. Why, I would sing the phone book if there were notes!

So now I am REALLY dreaming. AND practicing. Hmmm, can these 57 year old vocal chords remember what to do? Only time will tell. I will keep you in the loop with my progress.

It was good to be with you again!
Until next time.
Your friend, lanadee

DEAR LANADEE PODCAST #37 HER ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW!

This is lanadee's one year anniversary show! Is she running for office? On today's podcast, lanadee offers totally UNSOLICITED ADVICE about everyday problems we ALL go through, and talks about a new website that allows her to offer advice to people all day long is she wishes. http://www.blurtit.com
Thanks to friends like Cherie from the Cheriecast http://www.cheriecast.com lanadee realizes that even though she is NOT the Dear Abby of the podcasting world, there still just might be a reason to continue her podcast.
What do you think about the coverage provided by the major networks? Do you think it is biased? lanadee shares her opinion, and offers a suggestion for a more "balanced" report. It is called "Fox News".
On the lighter side, do you care for elderly parents? What would YOU do if they refused to wear their oxygen?
Do YOU have a question? Or something you would like to comment on? write lanadee at dearlanadee@gmail.com

<itunes:author>dearlanadee</itunes:author><itunes:subtitle>DEAR LANADEE PODCAST #37 HER ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW!</itunes:subtitle><itunes:summary>This is lanadee's one year anniversary show! Could it be they are trying to MAKE news, instead of reporting it? Well, at least they want to have a hand in choosing the next President. hmmmm I have yet to hear ONE reporter treat Sarah with any respect. And the press wonders why they are kept six blocks away from her.
"H E L L O"! Wake up and smell the coffee.

The comments on the video about Sarah that I watched were hateful, and frightening. I posted a "positive" comment. ( not that I actually think Sarah would view my youtube comment) And immediately I was sent a very nasty email, telling me JUST what this guy thought of me. He told me that I made him "puke", just like SHE did.

I wrote him back! ( are you surprised? ha) And I asked him WHY he attacked me. I hadn't addressed HIM personally. I told him we all were entitled to our opinions, and told him to have a nice evening. He wrote back and told me he was RIGHT...and then told me to have a nice evening as well, ha

What is wrong with people today? How can they be so unkind, so rude, so mean to people they don't even know? Well, I THINK I know what is wrong with some. It is the anonymity that posting comments on a website provides. People can sign in, OR NOT, and say what EVER they feel like, no matter how hurtful, hateful or untrue. And then leave, without anyone REALLY knowing who they are.

It reminds me of the Mardi gras, in New Orleans. People go there, wear masks, and do things they would NEVER do, if people were to know who they were. I guess this is what happens when people act without conscience or concern for one another.

I for one, am deeply saddened and concerned about the way people treat one another.
And I hope that YOU feel the same.

Well, I have chatted long enough. I hope that you are well. I hope that you are happy! Until next time I remain,
Your friend,
lanadee

DEAR LANADEE #36 AND "MY LIFE" PART 30 - THE FINAL INSTALLMENT

Here I am, once again. Did you miss me? I have been under the weather, so to speak, but that hasn't stopped me from beating back the winds and rain of Hurricane Ike! This is the final installment of the story I call "MY LIFE". I want to thank each of you who followed along and supported me in the telling of it. But I am not going anywhere. Perhaps I will come back and continue to offer you completely "UNSOLICITED ADVICE" ha. Do you have a problem or situation that you would like to talk about? than this is the BLOG and PODCAST for you.
Be sure and write me at dearlanadee@gmail.com

Until next week, I remain your friend, lanadee

<itunes:author>dearlanadee</itunes:author><itunes:subtitle>DEAR LANADEE #36 AND "MY LIFE" PART 30 - THE FINAL INSTALLMENT</itunes:subtitle><itunes:summary>Lanadee and Michael fight the winds and rain of Hurricane Ike. It just makes me feel better to think it. And I have found, as I get older, that relationships with people MATTER to me.

There have been years in my life when I REALLY did not care. I was far too busy for friendship. Too busy to go out of my way to talk to people. Don't get me wrong. I have always considered myself a "caring" person. But I was far too busy, too involved in my day to day living, to actually think about how I made others feel when they met me.

I was always in a hurry. I carried a full plate of responsibilities. I had to do this and that. How would I EVER get it all done? And so I found myself always sitting on the end of the rows, as far away from the crowd as possible. You can get out faster if you do. I was one of the first to leave a gathering, OR skip the gathering all together. After all, I was far too busy, and what if someone were to stop me as I "jogged" out of the building? Wouldn't that put me behind schedule?

I rarely made more than superficial greetings to people, asking them how they were, but not really listening to their answer. I rarely if ever, made eye contact for more than a second. What if they wanted to keep me there talking?

There was that one time. It was after Michael had his first heart attack, that I found myself WANTING to sit as close to people as possible. Just sitting next to someone made me feel better. It made me feel more secure. Of course, THEY never knew this. I didn't tell them. But when Michael's health improved, and the danger of losing him passed, I went back to being the "old lanadee".

And now...I have come to a place in my life where I am beginning to look back, every now and then, and wonder. What DO people think of me? I do know this. I have made few close friends. And people don't even expect me to stop and talk any more. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED....My goal to be the invisible woman, the woman who could sweep in and out of a room undetected, has been achieved. I AM the invisible woman.

So where does that leave me? It leaves me wondering...why didn't I stop? Why didn't I look at people fully, when I met them? Why didn't I listen to what they had to say? And more importantly, how did my behavior make them feel? Did THEY feel..invisible?

Have I really cared about, or loved the people I have met ? And more importantly, did they see right through me?

Now I find myself, meeting people who look right through ME when I stop to talk to them. They don't look at me. Are they really listening? Do they even know that I am talking to them? Do they really care? Sometimes I don't feel like they care.

It is never too late to change. With God's help, I plan to change. I plan to stop. I plan to really LOOK at people when I talk to them, or when they talk to me.
